9 creative newspapers we loved in 2024
As we wrap up 2024, we’re looking back at some of the standout newspapers that came through our presses this year. With so many...
This year we've helped brands all over the world share their stories (and grow their businesses) with newsprint. These are just some of the brilliant products we've discovered along the way. From Desmond and Dempsey's whimsical pyjamas to Bread Beauty's award-winning hair oil, here are 9 gifts we'd love to find under the tree from brands that print with Newspaper Club.
Printed PJs from Desmond and Dempsey
"Loud prints for languid days" is how Desmond and Dempsey describes their pyjamas. Offset grey winter mornings with a set of PJs in bright and bold Chango print (£150). Every order comes with a free copy of The Sunday Paper, an ideal weekend read printed on our tabloid newspapers.
Ilse scarf from Donna Wilson
Scottish designer Donna Wilson has been crafting her woolly wonderland of homewares and accessories since 2003. We're especially taken with the cool and cosy Ilse scarf (£100), one of three scarf designs named after pioneering female textile artists of the Bauhaus (there's also the Anni and the Otti).
Book subscription from Books Are Magic
Books Are Magic, the independent bookshop in Brooklyn owned by novelist Emma Straub, offers monthly book subscriptions (starting at $100) curated by the booksellers who know best. For a one-off read, get ideas from their staff picks — or, if you're local, grab a copy of their holiday guide printed on our tabloid newspapers!
Hugger bag bundle from Food Huggers
Kickstart a waste-free kitchen for next year with a Hugger bag bundle ($49.95) from Food Huggers. The clever and colourful reusable bags are made from silicone and help keep food fresh for longer (and cut down on single-use plastics).
Macadamia oil from Bread Beauty
Launched in 2020, Bread Beauty specialises in "haircare basics for not so basic hair." The brand's macadamia oil ($28) is made from 100% cold-pressed, high-grade macadamia oil and won an InStyle 2021 Readers’ Choice Award. In the words of one reviewer: "The best hair oil in the game."
Face vessel from Goodhood
You could easily spend hours browsing Goodhood's carefully curated inventory. With products from over 200 brands, there's something for everyone. We love the hand-blown Face Vessel glasses (£50) by Neal Drobnis — each one is completely unique, with a curvy, organic shape and a hand-painted expression.
Polka dot blanket from Colville
Founded by Lucinda Chambers and Molly Molloy, who met while working at Marni, Colville is known for supremely crafted, exclusive collections that are "the antithesis of fast fashion." For a design-minded gift this polka dot blanket (€450), made in Italy using traditional techniques, is spot-on.
Library candle from Our Lovely Goods
We're big fans of the smell of paper, so it's no surprise we love The Old Library candle (£20) from Aberdeen-based Our Lovely Goods. Inspired by "the comforting scent of an old classic book," the soy wax candle comes in a pretty (and reusable) amber glass jar and will burn for 40 hours. Don't forget to add on a copy of their new (free!) Journal, printed on our tabloid newspapers.
Organic hair clay from Church California
So long, bad hair days. Made by hand in small batches, this organic hair clay ($30) comes from "botanical barbershop" Church's new product line (which won a 2021 GQ Grooming Award). It features 26 active ingredients to encourage healthy hair including sandalwood, myrtle and vetiver.
Bonus: Newsprint wrapping paper!
After you've checked off your gift list, wrap everything in (sustainable) style with a set of 8 designs from Wrapture ($12). Printed on our digital broadsheets, each sheet is double-sided — for a surprise reveal when opened! — and 100% recyclable.
Or print your own wrapping paper! Order by 15 December for delivery by Christmas (or by 10 December if you're outside of the UK).
