As temperatures dip and we pull out our woolly jumpers, it’s a great time to bring a touch of warmth to your print projects, too. Enter salmon newsprint! This soft peach shade – familiar from The Financial Times – is both distinctive and inviting.
Below, check out 8 ways our customers have paired their projects with salmon newsprint, from capturing the cosy charm of a mountain lodge to setting the right mood for a vintage-inspired cocktail guide.
Northerly’s friendly brochure
When it comes to real estate brochures, if you've seen one you've seen them all. But Northerly Living switched things up with a “less sales-y and more editorial” approach using our digital tabloids.
"It's casual, familiar and totally unique for a leasing brochure."
Why salmon? It makes the brochure stand out while reinforcing the approachable branding of the development. “The salmon paper feels both special and unfussy in its lightness," say designers Perky Bros.
Scribner’s Catskill Lodge’s warm welcome
Scribner's Catskill Lodge is a mountain getaway in Hunter, New York. Their traditional tabloid celebrates local talent, from artists to chefs, and helps create a welcoming atmosphere that feels like a home away from home.
Why salmon? The paper’s warmth resonates with the rustic, inviting atmosphere of the lodge. "It is so appropriate for the setting of Scribner’s," says design agency BEST.
Vers-eau’s stylish poster
Vers-eau, a non-alcoholic apéritif, includes a digital tabloid poster with each order. Featuring recipes and product info, it adds an analogue, tactile touch that customers can keep.
"It has a timeless quality to it and complements the product."
Why salmon? The warm tone complements the brand’s artisanal, vintage-inspired identity. “Just like liner notes to a great record, we wanted to give people something to set the mood," says founder Stanton McConnell.
SVA's comic celebration
SVA Style connects 7,000 aspiring artists at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. This traditional tabloid showcases student comic artists and serves as a unique recruitment tool.
Why salmon? "We have a loose design aesthetic so the publication can evolve between issues," says assistant director Jennifer Liang. Previous editions had been printed on our standard 55gsm paper, but salmon newsprint was a better fit for the lo-fi style of the comic art.
Metric Coffee’s brewing guide
In this friendly guide, Chicago-based Metric Coffee answers their most frequently asked questions about coffee brewing. The traditional mini is a thoughtful addition to their coffee subscriptions.
Why salmon? Our lightest paper option, 45gsm salmon newsprint "weighs practically nothing so it doesn't add to shipping costs," they say.
Coolstuff.nyc's milestone edition
coolstuff.nyc, a popular newsletter about arts and culture in New York City, marked its 200th edition with a physical issue printed on our digital tabloids. Copies were handed out at a party celebrating the achievement and made for great photo opportunities.
"Just as you remember a physical invitation more than a text message, the newspaper made our digital newsletter a true presence at our party.''
Why salmon? It was a perfect match for the cosy, candlelit atmosphere of the party.
Hyper Skin’s influencer event prop
Hyper Skin brought a fun twist to an influencer event by capturing visitors posing with digital tabloids:
"There's something extremely charming and nostalgic about a newspaper. Many people took them home!"
Why salmon? The peachy hue stood out against the clean, white aesthetic of the venue and was the perfect match for Hyper Skin's pink and orange brand palette.
Power & Light Press’s playful catalogue
Using our Canva templates as a starting point, letterpress company Power & Light Press brought their business to life with a playful traditional tabloid catalogue.
Why salmon? It fits the quirky personality of Power & Light Press and helps them "stand apart from the typical product catalogue or line sheet," they say.
