9 newspapers hot off the press in April

Making a newspaper doesn’t have to start with a blank page. Our free Canva templates can help you get going – no design experience required. Just drop in your own text and images, and you’re off.
We’ve seen people use them for all sorts of projects: birthday gifts, wedding invitations, brand newsletters, even music video props. The examples below show just how flexible the templates can be, and how a simple layout can turn into something personal, useful or completely unexpected.
A birthday to remember
A newspaper can be a meaningful way to mark a milestone, whether it's a first birthday or a full century. Anna Stothard used our vintage template to collect memories from her grandfather’s life for his 100th birthday party. She printed just enough digital tabloids for family and friends to take one home. “It was a huge success,” she says. “He loved it.”
Prop power
Musician Natalie Carr needed a newspaper for her music video – but not just any prop would do. “It was imperative to me that the newspaper looked real and convincing,” she says.
Using our vintage template, she printed The Hot Girl Daily on our digital tabloids (available from 1 copy, which is handy for one-off shoots). People noticed: “This is the greatest promotional detail I’ve ever seen in a music video,” wrote one commenter.
Getting the word out
When illustrator Emily Rose launched her online shop, she used our business template to help spread the word. The newspaper doubled as a mini portfolio, featuring samples of her work and a short intro to her studio. “The template was so easy to use,” she says. “I was able to add my own branding and make it feel personal.”
Newborn news
Whether you’re looking to do a big reveal on social media or just surprise your friends and family, you can make headlines with your baby news! Chantal Disarro went viral on TikTok with a vintage-inspired photoshoot featuring a personalised newspaper:
“Everyone was telling us how unique the idea was and wanted to know how we made our newspapers," she says. "It made our announcement that much more special and now we have a keepsake we can save forever.” Chantal has shared her baby template with us – and now you can use it, too!
Wedding newspapers
For their winter wedding in Philadelphia, Elke and Wesley used our wedding template to make a 4-page newspaper for their guests. It covered the running order of the day, introductions to the wedding party plus a few icebreakers to help everyone get chatting.
“Designing the newspaper was so easy and fun,” says Elke. “It was a nice break from all the other tedious wedding planning tasks.”

Something to hand out
At a busy trade show, it can be hard to make a quiet impression. Mai Imai, owner of the Japanese stationery shop Paper Treats, adapted our vintage template to create something thoughtful and personal to hand out at the San Francisco International Pen Show. “Being an introvert, a newspaper felt like the most organic way to make my small presence known,” she says.
It included a crossword, shop info, and a few surprises. “The feel of paper and that nostalgic newspaper smell – it really is everything!”
A proper send-off
When a much-loved colleague was leaving South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, the comms team wanted to give him a thoughtful send-off. They used our vintage template to put together a farewell newspaper, full of memories and messages from the team. “The gift went down really well and will provide a lovely, lasting memento of his time with us,” they say. “And Newspaper Club’s template was very easy to use, even with little design experience.”
