As we wrap up 2024, we’re looking back at some of the standout newspapers that came through our presses this year. With so many...
Sometimes, designing for the screen can feel limiting. So, instead of trying to squeeze creativity into tiny Instagram squares, creative agencies have found the perfect solution to accompany their digital presence... Custom newspapers!
Print provides a canvas for creativity, allowing agencies to experiment and showcase their skills within a competitive field. Plus, the tangible nature of a newspaper can encourage a lasting impression on clients and prospects.
From portfolios, event accompaniments, photoshoot props and more, see 8 inspiring examples below from creative agencies that have embraced the power of print to stand out from the crowd.
The brand event
For the recent Dear Media 'IRL' event in Austin, Texas, event design agency Brand Like That helped bring the event to life with the help of our digital tabloids.
The live podcast event hosted intimate conversations with host favourites, live activations with brands, interactive experiences and the opportunity to connect with others in the community. The accompanying print introduced attendees to the panelists, introduced the events throughout the day and even included a handy note-taking section.

The illustration portfolio
Step into the vibrant world of designer and illustrator Pete Clayton in this zine-style promotional mailer. Beyond showcasing his diverse creative offerings and testimonials from happy clients, Pete offers a fun surprise – two full-page illustrations that can be cut out and pinned up.
“I'm very much into punk rock and love the DIY history of zines and print,” says Pete about using our digital minis. “I love producing a ‘thing,’ and by that I mean an actual holdable, useable piece of work that I can send out. It's a great part about what I do!”
The talent
Oregon-based creative agency Swift celebrates their team’s ‘side piece’ projects, which are not to be confused with side hustles. “It has to be something without KPIs or stakeholders – you need a project for you,” explain designers Casey Michael and Taylor Franklin.
They collected examples of their colleagues’ hobbies away from work and put together a digital mini filled with such projects, including photography, illustration, writing – even quilting and miniature painting.
“It's been rewarding seeing how the zine ignites people's creativity and drive to share the projects that are just for them.” says Casey and Taylor.
Green pages
Amsterdam-based branding agency W.Green showcased recent work for clients including Dr. Bronner’s, Pukka teas and Freitag in this digital tabloid portfolio.
The 24-page newspaper has gotten “very positive feedback all round,” says designer Kyriaan Barrow-Blanken. “People are already asking when the next version is coming!”
The annual report
London-based The Plant is a branding agency with a difference. As a Certified B Corporation®, the agency wanted a sustainable souvenir to celebrate their efforts when releasing their impact report, whilst still showcasing their creative edge.
They chose our digital tabloids to help grab their reader's attention when sharing their "maximum impact" strategy.
''We chose to have it printed at the Newspaper Club, a company that shares our sustainability values. We used the dormant presses of London's daily newspapers, and all the paper is EU Ecolabel and FSC certified.''
The directory
Illustration agency Brilliant Artists showcased their talented roster of artists - who work with the likes of Apple, The New Yorker and Penguin Random House – in this digital mini zine. Founders Hannah Shilland and Sam Walker wanted to send clients something “simple but eye-catching” that would let their artists’ work do the talking.
And it's been a hit! “The feedback has been great. We've had a lot of people requesting a zine and since the initial send-out we’ve already booked several meetings!” says Hannah and Sam.
The re-brand announcement
Re-brand news just in! OutRank Marketing have recently re-branded, and the announcement got a little help in the form of our digital broadsheets.
The US-based digital marketing agency used the print as a fun photoshoot prop to announce their exciting news, whilst also listing available services and providing the story behind the rebrand.
The yearly review
Creative studio Company Policy wrapped up the year with Off-Line, a digital tabloid showcasing their favourite projects from 2023. They also took the opportunity to put their new studio typeface, Out Of Office, to use in print - whilst showcasing their talents.
"People are even framing a piece of it or tacking it to their office wall!"
Founder Adam Katz says they’ve received “a bunch of nice notes” since sharing the newspapers. “People have loved it and we've heard some people are even framing a piece of it or tacking it to their office wall!”
